Jonathan Torres was one of many heelers who had a brand new partner in 2024 and although this season came with its fair share of highs and lows, Torres made sure to cinch his third National Finals Rodeo.

Roping with Nelson Wyatt landed Torres in the No. 11 spot in the PRCA World Standings and he has $117,705 to his name going into Round 1 of the Thomas and Mack.

Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo, $3,997

Torres made up for a slow winter starting with a win in Utah when the duo split the win with Kolton Schmidt and Landen Gleen. A pair of 4.5-second runs would be four tenths faster than the next team.

Ute Stampede, $2,201

Following Cowboy Christmas, Nelson and Torres hit a hot streak. The win in that hot streak came in Utah when they stopped the clock at 5.4 seconds. It came by slim margins of one tenth of a second to add to their growing momentum.

That same week Torres cashed in another $11,000 after placing at both the Silver State Stampede and Sheridan WYO Rodeo.

Gooding Pro Rodeo, $3,655

A 4.6-second run in Idaho would be fast enough for a second-place check and a four-way tie. They missed the win to Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith by just one tenth of a second in the tough competition.

It was the next week where Torres racked up another payday when they stopped in Washington. A 5.4-second run would put them second in Round 1 of the Horse Heaven Roundup.

Golden Spike Rodeo, $4,442

Utah would bring Torres another round of wins, this time, in Tremonton. Nelson and Torres stopped the clock at 4.4 seconds alongside three other teams to split the win. They still managed to cash in enough to pick up momentum.

Another Go-Round win came their way this week when they clocked a 4.6-second run in Idaho. They split the win with Tomlinson and Smith to keep things rolling.

North Dakota Roughrider Cup, $8,213

The highest pay day of Torres’ season came in Mandan. A 4.3-second run was fast enough to split a third-place finish with Clay Smith and Coleby Payne. Even splitting third was almost worth $10,000 and Torres’ final pay day of the regular season was just enough.
