Andrea Busby and Derby Fly in Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Finals to Pick Up Their First Texas Swing Win

Barrel racer Andrea Busby wins the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

Andrea Busby is no stranger to rodeo and fast horses. After qualifying for her first National Finals Rodeo in 2024 and winning the Average, she has carried that momentum into 2025 to pick up a massive win at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

“You know you’ve got to come here and lay it all on the line, there’s no safetying up. Every horse that made it to the Final [Round] is amazing and so you’ve just got to go for it and see how it turns out,” Busby said.

While Benny was the big sorrel you saw Busby on for most of 2025, the red roan mare that she calls Derby is a horse that we have seen her on before and the horse that carried her to the Fort Worth win with a time of 16.16 seconds.

“She’s amazing. Ashley Schaffer trained her and then we got her and I’ve been lucky enough to get rodeo on her. She tries her heart out every time you ask her to come down the alleyway and she’s just an amazing athlete,” Busby said.

Megan McLeod-Sprague’s 16.21 was second, Kassie Mowry and Jarvis took third with a 16.27 and Toria Madsen’s spectacular trip to Dickies Arena ended with a 16.31 and a fourth-place check.
