The 2023 PRCA Announcer of the Year Anthony Lucia received a special honor at the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo in California over the weekend.
Lucia’s sponsor Abbey Carpet anted to roll out the red carpet for him to celebrate his award, so they decided to present him with a floor mat of his own face to take home, which rodeo clown Matt Merritt promptly broke in by stepping on it.
“We wanted to do something extraordinary, because he is extraordinary,” a representative from Abbey said.
Bob Tallman, one of Lucia’s mentors, called it the best kept secret in California.
