Ava Bush Draws Brown Sugar Dun It to Win Reserve Champion at Youth World Reining Cup

Oklahoma State University’s Ava Bush makes her the trip to Brazile worth it.

The 2024 Youth World Reining Cup wrapped up recently in Brazile and that is where Ava Bush landed herself a Reserve Champion title.

“It was quite an experience. I an so glad I was able to get the opportunity to ride down there so thank you NRHA and NRYHA. It was honestly just so amazing, the people were great from Brazile and from the other countries. There were 16 countries and I believe six conteninents so I got to meet a lot of new people,” Bush said.

When Bush competes in the US, it is on a horse that she knows, that is in her program and one that there are high chances that she has competed on before. In Brazile, the Youth World Reining Cup competitors drew their horses out of a cowboy hat. Bush drew Brown Sugar Dun It.

“I was able to start riding my horse, Brown Sugar Dun It, that night and we showed Friday morning so only four days to ride,” she said.

Bush says that being on the equestrain team at Oklahoma State University gave her a leg up and set her up for success in Brazil. In college, they only get a few minutes to get to know their horse while in Brazile, the four days she had gave her an opportunity to take it slow with Brown Sugar Dun It.

When the competition was over, Bush was the Reserve World Champion and now she returns to the busy season at OSU.
