Garrett Shadbolt is fully healthy and heading back to his third NFR in four years. Shadbolt earned $137,096 throughout the 2024 regular season and enters the NFR No. 13 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings.
Chase Hawks Roughstock Rodeo, $7,770
Shadbolt wasted no time getting his 2024 season going. His fourth ride of the season came at the Chase Hawks Roughstock Rodeo in Montana and he was marked 87 points to get the win on Dec. 23.
He split the win with Cooper Cooke and Leighton Berry and that trio bested the likes of Cole Reiner, Bradlee Miller, Cole Franks and Jacob Lees.
National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, $12,182
Shadbolt’s next rodeo after the Chase Hawks came at the National Western. Shadbolt would get the win at the year’s first major rodeo. He scored 81, 88, and 86 points in his first three rounds, which was good for two round wins, and advanced him to the Finals. In the Finals, Shadbolt was 86.5 points which got him the win in Denver for the second straight year.
RodeoHouston, $26,750
Shadbolt continued his early season success during the Texas Swing. He took home second place at RodeoHouston to take home his biggest payday of the season.
He opened the rodeo with a 79 and a 79.5-point ride, but followed up those two rides with an 83.5 and an 83-point ride to barely advance. In the Wildcard Round, he was 87 points which would push him to Championship Sunday. He once again advanced by the skin of his teeth with an 84.5-point ride.
In Houston, everything else can be forgotten with a clutch ride in the Shootout, and Shadbolt did just that. He was 87.5 points on Yippee Kibbitz to take second and bank $20,000.
High Desert Stampede, $4,759
Outside of the National Western, Shabolt notched one other PRCA Playoff Series win in 2024. In Redmond, he rode Ted for 87.5 points to win by a whopping five points over Taylor Broussard and Orin Larsen.
Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo, $11,000
In July, Shadbolt had a great weekend in Salt Lake City, earning $11,000. He opened the rodeo with an 86-point ride that earned him $2,000 off the bat. In the Finals, Shadbolt was 86.5 points to win the Silver Medal and an additional $9,000.
Cinch Playoffs Puyallup, $12,769
Shadbolt all but locked up another NFR at the Washington State Fairgrounds. His first two rides were marked 84.5 points which was enough to move him on to the Finals, where he posted his best ride of the season, 91 points on Agent Lynx. The ride was good for second place and won him $9,750.
