Bareback Rider Kade Sonnier Stays Hot in San Antonio with Second Go-Round Win

Kade Sonnier has had a lead foot down in San Antonio. He has won two out of two rounds so far with the third round coming up. His Round 2 win came in as an 87-point ride on Beutler and Son Rodeo’s Black Kat to add another $2,500 to Sonnier’s name.

“Well my eyes were closed about the first four jumps, just trying to keep my chin down and keep my feet moving, keep setting them and praying to God I was going to hit the neck,” he said.

The Louisiana bareback rider is in the beginning of his rookie year and he is matching up with some of the best bucking horses that rodeo has to offer but for Sonnier, it is simple.

“You know, it’s kind of the same mentality every time. A bucking horse is a bucking horse, just try to go to her 110% every time,” he said.

For his first time in San Antonio, Sonnier is leaving his mark with back to back go-round wins.
