Bareback Rider Waylon Bourgeois Sets Bar in Rodeo Austin Play-Offs

Play-Offs Performance 1 in Austin ended with Waylon Bourgeois leading the way in the bareback riding.

Waylon Bourgeois went 80 in Round 1 and he came back in the Play-Offs even better. An 84-point ride on Wild N Out of Dakota Rodeo put the three-year veteran at the top of the leaderboard.

Bourgeois called a friend and that friend said not to let the videos Bourgeois saw fool him, that Wild N Out has a little more there. This proved true when the eight second whistle sounded and Bourgeois dismount was less than perfect.

“She was every bit of hitting you in the back, dropping out of the sky and when I heard that buzzer I guess it chicken flipped me pretty good,” he said.

Once he stuck the landing, his focus was on the Short Round as Bourgeois was the No. 1 man to lead the way. His game plan is simple with the clean slate format, keep doing his job.
