Barrel Racer Hayle Gibson Looks Back at High Desert Stampede Win

Hayle Gibson is a two-time High Desert Stampede Champion.

Aboard a palomino mare that she calls Piper, Hayle Gibson dominated the competition at the High Desert Stampede to be your Champion for the second consecutive year.

“Great ground, they had the slack dialed in and my horses love that good Oregon air. Piper came in firing, she smoked a run. She was on autopilot and I just was along for the ride but she’s loving this rodeo scene,” Gibson said.

A 15.45-second run is what it took for the win this year on a homegrown mare. Piper is a surefooted mare that loves to show off. Gibson says when the opportunity comes, she fires and the duo has been on a roll.

“That’s the really cool thing about Piper is big, small, hard, soft, deep, she’s going to eat it up. She runs the same run every time and I’m so thankful for that consistency and the fact that she loves her job so much,” she said.

While Gibson has horses joining her trailer on the Summer Run, right now, it is Piper’s time to shine and she is racking up the big pay days.
