Barrel Racer Lynette Brodoway Wins First Canadian Finals Rodeo Title After Entering CFR No. 1

Lynette Brodoway of Brooks, Alberta cinched her first Canadian Championship at the age of 62 as she lead by over $28,675 entering the Finals and accumulated $25,015 throughout the six rounds in Red Deer.

Brodoway sat No. 1 with $47,815 in regular season earnings and continued to collect checks as she turned in multiple impressive runs at the CFR.

She placed in four rounds overall, including a 13.61 to claim second place in Round 6 to seal the National Championship.

“I am going to give the glory to God here, I woke up with a peace this morning that no matter what, (my horse) Cowboy has done his job this year,” she said. “And I really felt he had one more run in him.”

Brodoway finished at No. 3 in the CFR Average to accumulate a total of $72,831 in total for the season and win by about $13,000 over CFR Average winner Karli Cowie.
