Barrel Racer Lynette Brodoway Takes Sizable Lead into Canadian Finals Rodeo

Lynette Brodoway’s lead of almost $20,000 is the most of any athlete entering the CFR, but a formidable field of a barrel racers, including reigning CPRA Champion Taylor Manning, are giving chase.

No.1 Lynette Brodoway, $47,815

Originally from Brooks, Alberta, Brodoway is now a six-time Canadian Finals Qualifier after entering rodeo professionally in 2016. The 62-year-old’s season consisted of a SMS Equipment Pro Tour Championship and $47,815 in earnings.

No. 2 Brooke Wills, $28,486

Three-time Canadian Finals Rodeo qualifier Brooke Willis added multiple victories to her resume this season including Dawson Creek, Grimshaw and the Armstrong Tour Finals. These wins brought Wills to No. 2 in the Standings with $28,486 in total earnings for the regular season.

No. 3 Taylor Manning, $26,305

Reigining Champion Taylor Manning has competed at the Canadian Finals Rodeo since her first year in professional rodeo in 2017. At just 19-years-old Manning collected multiple titles over the course of the regular season including the Runaway Slot Race Champion, Royal Crown Derby Champion and the Greg Olson Futurity.

No. 4 Justine Elliott, $26,111

With five Finals qualifications under her belt, Justine Elliott is no stranger to competition at the Canadian Finals Rodeo as she works toward a second Championship.

No. 5 Blake Molle, $20,085

Blake Molle secured the No. 1 spot at the Bassano Rodeo and place at the Dawson Creek Spring Rodeo, Kananaskis Pro Rodeo and Strathmore Stampede. Molle will be making her first appearance in Red Deer coming in at No. 5 in the standings.

No. 6 Mariah Mannering, $19,865

Mariah Mannering notched the Williams Lake Stampede Championship Title with a run od 16.3 seconds to add over $6,700 to her total earnings. Mannering qualified for the Finals in 2021 and is headed back for a second chance at a Championship Title.

No. 7 Bradi Whiteside, $19,242

Bradi Whiteside will be competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in both the barrel racing and breakaway roping for the second time in her career. Whiteside also qualified in both events at the Calgary Stampede and is heading to Red Deer with $19,242 in earnings.

No. 8 Karli Cowie, $19,139

The 2023 season was Karlie Cowie’s first year in professional rodeo and the Canadian cowgirl has not only filled her permit but cinched a qualification to the Finals with $19,139 in earnings. Cowie secured the win at Pincher Creek, Teepee Creek and Nicole Valley Pro Rodeo.

No. 9 Carlee Otero, $18,656

Carlee Otero is a three-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier and has now locked in her second Canadian Finals Rodeo qualification. The Texas cowgirl has collected $18,565 in total earnings and will make her return to Red Deer in search of a Championship Title for the first time since 2012.

No. 10 Lane Wills, $17,964

Lane Wills captures the win at the Bonneyville Pro Rodeo as well as the second place position in Williams Lake, contributing to her overall earnings which now sit at $17,964. Wills made her first appearance at the Finals just last year and stayed consistent to cinch a second qualification.

No. 11 Stacey Ruzicka, $17,597

Two-time Canadian Final qualifier Stacey Ruzicka has secured a third trip to Red Deer, however, this time on her 20-year-old horse, Kaye. With just under $17,600 in earnings for the regular season, Stacey has claimed the No. 11 spot in the standings.

No. 12 Traci Dawson MacDonald, $16,897

Traci Dawson MacDonald has qualified for the Canadian Finals Rodeo for the first time since 2011 after securing $16,897 in earnings. MacDonald also competed in Red Deer in 2007 and 2008 and has cinched the final spot in the Top 12 to once again compete for a Championship Title.
