Taylor Manning was the only barrel racer sub-14 seconds in Round 1 of the Canadian Finals Rodeo, collecting the $11,000 payday for a 13.90.
Manning said afterward she felt like she was still a little cautious in the first performance at the Rogers Centre.
“I’m happy to get (her horse Archie) run and know what the ground feels like now, I am just really happy with how he worked,” she said. “They put a lot work into (the dirt), every barrel racer that came out was happy with the ground.”
Tiany Schuster took second in the round with a 14 flat, Ren Leclercq was right behind her at 14.01 while Lynette Brodoway, the reigning Canadian Champion who entered the rodeo No. 1, was fourth.
