The recent wildfires that occurred in Texas have been contained, however, not without causing a major impact on many family’s homes, land, and livestock.
Team roper, Billy Bob Brown of Carbon, Texas was one of the who were affected. Bill Bob gives us details on the gusting 35 mph winds and the rapid movement of the fire, in which he experienced firsthand.
“It was so smokey I couldn’t hardly breathe or see anything”, Browns says as he describes what he experienced while looking for their cattle through the haze.
Bill Bob and his family were able to load their horses and trailers to remove them from danger, as well as relocate any other livestock to their arena for safety.
Many people have donated hay, feed, troughs, and other resources to help the residents affected. A large amount of folks from other towns, including the Tarleton Rodeo Team, as well as those who traveled from distant states have contributed a large amount of time to those who were devastated by the fires.
“For everybody out there, if you’ve donated, thought about it, prayed for us, we appreciate it and the western community is how we’re going to get through this, that’s what we do and we appreciate every one of you”, Billy Bob says as he expresses his gratitude for those involved.
