Josie Conner’s professional breakaway roping career began in 2022, however, her success began long before that. She is a National High School Champion, a Bob Feist All-Girl Challenge, won the Jr. NFR and she has kept it all rolling.
Both of Conner’s parents rodeoed and life has shaped up just right for them as they are able to travel with Conner down the road.
“They took me almost everywhere last year. I grew up in the arena, in the practice pen with my dad and I just kind of followed in that footsteps. I’ve always loved horses and I love this industry. I never thought I’d go on a different path…. This is what I’ve loved for a long time,” Conner said.
Although she wanted to be a barrel racer for a split second and her dad did not want her to pro rodeo for another split second and now she travels the country, dad in tow, as she partakes in the fastest event on dirt.
Conner says that at every stage of this sport, she has had her challenges and had to figure it out. She chalks it up to be timid at first but competing is fun and once she figures it out, she dominates. She has dominated in WPRA, WCRA and continues to perfect her craft.
