Breakaway Roper Taylor Munsell Secures Her First Set of Long Awaited Reno Rodeo Silver Spurs

A horse change to the one she knew could do it landed Taylor Munsell in the Reno Rodeo Winner’s Circle.

Taylor Munsell has made it back to the Reno Rodeo Short Go all four years that breakaway roping has been a part of the iconic kickoff to the Summer Run. Aboard a horse she knew could get her there, Munsell roped as consistent as ever.

“Yeah, my grandad and grandma, it was the last horse they raised and I’ve known him, rode him for 16 years now and he’s just such a blessing,” Munsell said.

Two times of 2.4 seconds in Rounds 1 and 2 and smart roping in the Short Go to be 3.2 made Munsell 8.0 on three head. The win was her’s by half a second.

“Oh my gosh, I’ve been so close. This is the fourth year I’ve been here, I knew it was in the cards for this year. And third horse I’ve rode and obviously he’s the one that will be coming back,” she said.

Munsell is now the No. 2 ranked breakaway roper in the WPRA World Standings and she is about to add even more to her name as Cowboy Christmas is underway.
