Brushton Minton Uses Fast Start to Make First Career NFR

Brushton Minton has locked in his first National Finals Rodeo qualification after the all-around cowboy had the best season of his career in any single event.

Minton secured wins all over the country this season including the California Circuit Finals Rodeo, BigFork Summer ProRodeo and the West Texas Fair and Rodeo. The California cowboy also competes in the steer wrestling and team roping which has secured him All-Around Titles at double digit rodeos in 2023.

As a fourth generation roper, Minton is the first in his family to qualify for the NFR with hopes of being to first to being home a Gold Buckle as he enters into the Finals with $146,467 in regular season earnings.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

Reno Rodeo, $12,238

The start of the Summer Run was a rousing success for Minton as he picked up a check for $12,238 at the Reno Rodeo. Minton locked in a first place run in Round 2 and followed up with a fourth place check in the Finals. An aggregate time of 27.7 seconds on three head secured Minton the No. 4 spot in the Average.

San Angelo Rodeo (Texas), $10,459

Minton started the final stop of the Texas Swing tie for first place in Round 1 of the San Angelo Rodeo, which won him a check for just over $6,100. He continued to add to his earnings as he finished out in sixth place in the Final Round as well as the aggregate, bringing his total earnings in San Angelo to $10,459. He also made the Finals in Fort Worth to start the Texas Swing.

FASTEST RUNS

The Calgary Stampede, 7.5 Seconds

Minton turned in his fastest run of the season at the Calgary Stampede as he stopped the clock in 7.5 seconds to lock in the No. 2 spot in Round 1 of Pool B. Minton placed in all three rounds in his and reached No. 5 in the World Standings following Calgary.

Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Utah), 7.8 seconds

The daysheet was stacked with NFR cowboys at the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo in Vernal, however, Minton took home the championship after making a quick run of 7.8 seconds to earn a check for $4,914. NFR qualifiers Haven Meged, Westyn Hughes, John Douch, Blane Cox and Shane Hanchey all also won checks.

NOTABLE WINS

California Circuit Finals Rodeo, 30.6 Seconds on Three

Minton scored a big win in late December as he secured the No. 1 spot in the Average in his home state at the California Circuit Finals Rodeo. Minton claimed second place in Rounds 1 and 2 as well as the Finals, bringing his aggregate time to 30.6 seconds on three head to add $7,475 to his earnings early on in the season.

BigFork Summer ProRodeo, 16.4 Seconds on Two

Minton cinched the win at the BigFork Summer ProRodeo in early July after turning in an aggregate time of 16.4 seconds on two head to pull a check for $5,071.
