Bull Rider Cooper James Talks Tough Resistol Rookie of the Year Race and More on WSR

James, 19, will be one of three rookie bull riders entering the NFR in the Top 10 in the PRCA World Standings

Three of the PRCA’s Top 10 bull riders in the regular season are rookies and the three of them - No. 6 Jeter Lawrence, No. 7 Wacey Schalla and No. 10 Cooper James - will be competing head-to-head at the NFR for the Resistol Rookie of the Year title.

The 19-year-old James joined WSR on Nov. 5 to offer his thoughts on his breakout 2024 season.

“This group of guys we got this year, we’re all dogs, the bull riding is pretty tough this year, especially this rookie class and then TJ (Gray) and Jace (Trosclair), them boys are staying on everything,” he said. “I think it’s going to come down to whoever stays on the most at the Finals.”
