Caleb Bennett after his 91.5-point ride in Round 3 of Pool B at the Calgary Stampede

It took three performances, but someone has finally knocked Jess Pope out of the No. 1 spot in a bareback riding round at the Calgary Stampede.

Bennett rode Super 8 for 91.5 points, matching Tim O’Connell in Pool A for the highest bareback score of the entire rodeo.

“That was a good horse.....Looked a little bit easier (on video) than he came to play today,” Bennett said. “I’m glad he came to fire the way he did today.”

Entering the final day of Pool B competition, Bennett is in third with $9,750. Jess Pope is first with $15,500 and Orin Larsen is second with $11,500.
