Caleb McMillan was named the 2024 Linderman Award winner which recognizes the cowboy who won at least $1,000 in three events, and those events must include at least one roughstock and one timed event.
In 2024, he won a lion’s share of his money this year in the bull riding and tie-down roping.
“It was pretty cool. It’s one of them goals I have had since I was a little kid. My dad always talked about the Linderman award, I’ve always strived for it,” he said. “Just to have your name on their with some of them guys, a lot of good cowboys, a lot of good history, to have my name on that list is pretty neat.”
McMillan is a first time winner of the award, winning it after Josh Frost won the Linderman the previous four years.
The Columbia River Circuit finalist prides himself on his versatility. While three events are required for the Linderman, he can enter up to five events at any rodeo he competes in. That doesn’t include the saddle bronc riding, where he is a three-time college finalist.
At the Columbia River Circuit Finals he competed in the steer wrestling, steer roping and bull riding while also serving as a pickup man.
“It dang sure keeps you busy,” he said.
