Pool B action at The Calgary Stampede finished up on Friday afternoon and the field is almost set for Championship Sunday.
Perhaps the biggest story out of Pool B was the domination of Rocker Steiner in the bareback riding. The 18-year-old won two rounds and earned $16,000 to win the pool, all while battling injury.
In steer wrestling, Kansan Tanner Brunner won the pool and had three times of 4.7 seconds or faster. The second place finisher, Jesse Brown, thrived under pressure by winning the last two rounds after no times on his first two steers.
Ben Andersen continued the domination by Canadian saddle bronc riders in Calgary this year. He won the first round with the highest marked ride of the rodeo after three-time Stampede champion and countrymen Zeke Thurston won three of four in Pool A.
In tie-down roping, Tuf Cooper was 7.3 seconds or faster on his first three runs to bank $14,500. Reigning champion Cory Solomon was second with $10,500.
Wenda Johnson put on a show in her pool for the consecutive year in Calgary. Johnson won two rounds and was second and third in the other two, giving her a tail of $19,000 in winnings. Kassie Mowry, who had the fastest time of the rodeo in Round 4, was second.
In the bull riding, Creek Young won the first two rounds to bank $11,000 and finish first in the pool by $4,000 over Maverick Potter.
