Canadian Zeke Thurston’s Season in His Homeland Ends with a Fifth CPRA Title

Zeke Thurston is now a five-time Canadian Saddle Bronc Riding Champion

Zeke Thurston continues to break records in Canada and this time, it was at the Canadian National Finals. Five consecutive Saddle Bronc Riding titles has now gone down in Canada’s record books thanks to Thurston.

“It takes a lot of hard work and perserverence and consistency. God’s blessed me with some amazing talents and I’ve got some of the greatest supports system and family and fans behind me and I just want to honor it the best I can,” Thurston said.

Thurston cruised to the year-end title, winning by nearly $40,000 after entering the CFR No. 1 in Canadian Standings. He finished with $100,216.

Three of five Go-Round wins went to Thurston including Round 5 that was a 92.75 aboard Calgary Stampede’s Tokyo Bubbles and his total on five put him No. 3 in the Aggregate.

As for the Aggregate title, that left with one of Canada’s legacy cowboys, Logan Hay. Hay ended the week with a total of 435 on five head with his highest marked ride coming in Round 2 with 89.75 points also on Calgary’s Tokyo Bubbles.

Layton Green was the man who filled the No. 3 hole for the season and No. 2 in the Aggregate to wrap up the Top 3 in each of rodeo’s most tradition event.
