Carrie Ann Sattler Serves As First Female President of Reno Rodeo

The wildest, richest rodeo in the west is kicking off the 105th annual rodeo with new female president

For 20 years, Carrie Ann Sattler has served on numerous committees and volunteered at the Reno Rodeo, but things now look a little different for he in 2024. This year, she is serving as the first-ever female president of the Reno Rodeo.

“My passion and the pursuit of knowledge for the western industry has been paramount in my success, so I am super excited and honored to serve in this position,” she said. “It has been a wild ride. Our volunteers are incredible.”

As part of her presidential duties, Sattler is in charge of coordinating 65 committees to run the rodeo. Each committee serves a different purpose, but they all work in conjunction to put on the “wildest, richest rodeo in the west.”

“I can tell you the days are long, but the year is absolutely short,” she said.

One of Sattler’s favorite parts of the Reno Rodeo is putting on the Scalability Conference. Hosted at the conference are 22 different organizations and 59 industry professionals that come to learn how Reno puts on such a successful rodeo.

“We’ve just got lots of magical things up our sleeves,” Sattler said. “We are so so excited to just kind of shake the event up a little bit and make sure that the people that have been attending it for years are feeling refreshed and excited to see new things.”
