One day, several years ago, Charly and Jackie Crawford bought lunch for a couple of soldiers. This past weekend, the Crawford’s hosted the American Military Celebration.
This roping included the top 15 teams in the world and an NFR Showdown. It was Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves that walked away with the win after roping 25.8 on five.
Although there was a team that won, this team roping is not like any other team roping. It started on Tuesday when Crawford began putting on roping clinics for military personnel but it is not about the roping.
Crawford has partnered with Building Homes for Heroes. Last year, $47,000 was raised and they were able to build one home. They were $3,000 short of completing a second. This year over $115,000 was raised and that comes out to over four homes.
“Not one time in a million years would I have thought that I could change that many peoples lives. I’m just so proud for these guys and happy for these guys,” Crawford said.
The American Military Celebration is unlike any other event with veterans that were just happy to be there. It has grown into an unforgettable event.
