The NIRSHA Collegiate Ranch and Stock Horse National Championships’ final round took place on April 10th.
Clay Kinnison, student at Tarleton State University, had a successful few days in Amarillo and was named Limited Non-Pro Division Champion.
Ranching and working cattle in his daily life has been extremely beneficial and provides Clay and his horse with experience and consistency while competing.
Due to this show being strictly at collegiate level, the competition is strong. “I think this show was one of the better collegiate competitions I’ve been to and I think what makes that is the comradery and everyone’s there to give it your all”, Kinnison says.
The horse Clay competed on was trained by Kinnison himself. Clay has shown this horse for the past four to five years and finally seeing this payoff was an extremely rewarding experience.
