Clay Smith and Coleby Payne Soak Up Wildcard Round Success to Move on at Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

Your team roping winners of the Wildcard Round in Fort Worth are Clay Smith and Coleby Payne.

A Go-Round win in Bracket 1 had veteran team ropers Clay Smith and Coleby Payne waiting for their shot to make it back in the Wildcard Round. Thanks to a time of 3.8 seconds, Smith and Payne did just that.

“It’s one of them set ups and steers going left, if you back off a guy can get in a bind so we had a game plan. If it was easy or tough, we’re going to try to make the best run we could,” Payne said.

On the horsepower side of it, Smith’s head horse had her head in the game to work perfectly. The duo added another $2,000 to their Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo earnings.

This Wildcard Round win means Smith and Payne are Semi-Finals bound and alongside them is the No. 2 team Clint Summers and Paul Eaves.
