Clint Laye Leads CFR Average, Canadian Standings Following Round 3 Win Friday Night

Bareback rider Clint Laye snagged his second consecutive round win in Red Deer on Friday night and is now in the driver’s seat for his second Canadian Title.

He was 88.75 on Vold Rodeo’s True Grit to win a tough round that featured 7-of-12 bareback riders ride for at least 85.5 points.

“I’ve been in the draw with that horse so many times over the years and never had her, finally it came together, I was so excited about it,” he said. “It feels really good.”

Laye was Canada’s National Champion in 2021 and has now opened up a lead of almost $10,000 on Orin Larsen after banking more than $23,000 at the CFR already.

As the title race continues to take shape, it is very likely the bareback riding will go to someone currently in the Top 5 as they all have made more than $41,000 on the season, and no one ranked No. 6 or lower has more than $23,000.

The CFR continues with two performances Saturday on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
