In 2017, Cody DeMoss went to his 13th career NFR. It would take until 2021 for the 40-year-old cowboy to qualify for his 14th NFR. DeMoss was not comfortably inside the bubble during the entire season and qualified in the No. 14 spot.

He was under $1,000 ahead of K’s Thomson who finished in the No. 16 spot.

DeMoss’ first big win of the season came back in January at the Southeastern Circuit Finals where he went 88 points to earn $2,680.

A month later he would take Rodeo Rapid City with a 91 point ride, his only ride of 90 points or higher the entire season. The ride earned DeMoss a check of $4,427.

In March, Demoss earned another big check after winning the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo. He went 89 points and earned just over $4,000.

The best stretch of the season came in early April for Cody. He finished first at the Ozark Empire Pro Rodeo and then followed that up with an impressive showing at the RAM National Circuit Finals. DeMoss took third place in the first three rounds of the rodeo and placed in fourth in the finals. In total, DeMoss won more than $10,000 during the two rodeos.

Cody found himself bouncing in and out of the top-15 for the majority of the season, and every time it looked like he may slip down the standings, he went out and got a big win.

In early August DeMoss was looking for a big payday and found one at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo where he took first place with an 87 point ride. The win earned him $4,907.

A week later DeMoss earned another win at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo XTreme Broncs with an 87.5 point ride.

Even after the two big wins, DeMoss found himself on the bubble heading into the final month of the 2021 season. In a matchup with The Cervi Brother’s famous Womanizer, DeMoss went 87.5 points and earned $4,500.

That check would prove to be the difference-maker and earn DeMoss his 14th career NFR appearance.
