Former World Champion Cody Teel Heads To First NFR Since 2016

Cody Teel is back at the NFR after a five-year absence. Teel was focused on riding in the PBR over the last few years but shifted back to the PRCA in the 2023 season. It proved a great decision as he is now heading to the NFR in the No. 13 spot.

Here is a look back at his 2023 season.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

SWELS - Xtreme Bulls, $10,455

Teel cracked the $10,000 mark at the Swels Xtreme Bulls after a pair of third-place finishes. Teel placed third in the Finals after he went 87.5 points which would help him finish third in the average.

Snake River Stampede, $9,490

Teel’s second biggest weekend came at the Snake River Stampede where he earned just under $9,500. Teel began the rodeo with an 87-point ride to finish second in the opening round. Teel would go on to win in the Finals with an 87.5-point ride.

HIGHEST MARKED RIDES

New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo, 89 Points

The best ride of the season came in the final month with Teel going 89 points in early September at the New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo. Teel placed second at the rodeo behind Cullen Telfer who was marked 90 points at the rodeo.

Rodeo of the Ozarks, 88.5 Points

Teel’s second-best ride came at the Rodeo of the Ozarks where he was marked 88.5 points on Anthrax to get a third-place finish. The ride earned Teel just under $2,300 at the rodeo.

NOTABLE WINS

Parker County Sheriff’s Posse, $3,089

Teel took home a nice paycheck after going 87.5 Points on Let’s Go Brandon to get the win at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse. Teel tied with Robbie Taylor for the win and each earned just over $3,000.
