Cody Webster looks back at the Red Bluff Roundup

Cody Webster is a nine-time National Finals Rodeo bullfighter and two-time PRCA Bullfighter of the Year. Webster was recently out in California at the Red Bluff Roundup and he says the bulls in California were hot, reminding him of old-school breeding.

In Red Bluff Roundup this year, the conditions were less than ideal. It rained hard on Friday and left the arena sticky with bad footing.

“No matter what you’ve got going on, the bulls got four legs, they’ve got four wheel drive and we’re in two wheel drive so you have to rely on the team work and get through it as good as you can,” Webster said.

Fighting with Webster was Nathan Harp and during the Sunday performance, Webster and Harp had their work cut out for them.

It started with Flying U Rodeo’s Gun Train.

“He’s a bull that is extremely extremely smart when it comings to hooking people, whether that’s a bull rider or a bull fighter, he knows the game. He’s really really big, he’s really strong and he hit hard,” Webster said.

Gun Train bucked off Trey Kimzey before he got Webster against the chutes.

Hou’s Bad News of Bridwell Pro Rodeo was up next. He bucked off Garrett Smith, Webster and Harp stepped in to do their job. Webster took a hit but he said it’s all a part of the job.
