Cowboys For Kerr Rallies Around Rodeo Entertainment Super Star Bobby Kerr

Hall of Famer Bobby Kerr gears up to battle cancer with cowboys by his side.

Bobby Kerr is a fan-favorite and Hall of Fame rodeo act. His mustangs and dogs steal the show when they enter an arena but now, Kerr’s cancer has returned.

One fellow cowboy and rodeo entertainer that has walked in those shoes before is barrel man Matt Merritt. In 2019 and into 2020, Merritt got first experience with chemotherapy and radiation to know that it takes a village to fight this battle.

“I know he feels lilke he needs to keep working and that’s really why alot of us got together and decided we wanted to raise some serious money for Bobby and for his wife, Susan, so they can just turn it off,” Merritt said.

Alongside Merritt, rodeo announcer Jody Carper, Flying U Rodeo’s Catherine Rosser and others have launched Cowboys For Kerr where you can go to donate to the cause. You can also opt to donate $100 that enters you in drawings for multiple prize packages where the Grand Prize include two tickets to the National Finals Rodeo, a two night stay a Boyd Gaming Property, a $2,500 Visa giftcard, a meet and greet at NFR and a Wrangler Shopping Spree at Cowboy Christmas.

“He can just stay home, work with his horses if he feels good enough and keep them ready so that when he’s ready, he can come back strong. Look at the end of the day, he is everything cowboy. He is everything Western Heritage,” Merritt said.

Kerr’s battle started in 2021 and now, the rodeo and Western communities are ready to support one of our own.
