Daxtyn Feild Talks First Year of Bareback Riding and More on WSR

The nephew of Kaycee Feild is competing in some big junior events

Daxtyn Feild, 17, is a WCRA youth athlete who will is in position to compete in the World Championship Junior Rodeo on July 23-27.

If you recognize the name, its because he is the son of Shad Feild and nephew of six-time World Champion bareback rider Kaycee Feild.

Daxtyn Feild started his rodeo career on the timed event end of the arena, but in the last year, has joined the family bareback riding business.

He says if it were up to him, he would have started a long time ago, but his dad and Kaycee waited for his body to mature so he wouldn’t get hurt and form bad habits.

"(Shad and Kaycee made me) crave it all the way from when I was little until now and I think it makes me want it that much more because I had to wait that long,” Daxtyn said.

Daxtyn has gotten points at six WCRA events so far this year and sits near the top of the Division Youth leaderboard. The Top 16 get into the Semifinals at the World Championship Junior Rodeo.
