After breaking his femur on Sept. 7 in Puyallup, Creek Young will not be able to compete at the 2024 NFR and has received a doctor’s release from the bull riding.

The No. 16 cowboy in the PRCA World Standings, Dustin Boquet, will take his place.

Young will receive credit for his fourth straight NFR despite not competing. It is also Boquet’s fourth, and first since 2021.

“It’s been two years too long since the last time I’ve been there, that’s for sure,” Boquet told ProRodeo.com. “I’ve dealt with some injuries, and to get back there, there’s nothing like it. That’s what we ride for all year, to go there and take a gold buckle.”

Boquet will enter the NFR with $121,352.

“I’ve been staying in touch with Creek a little bit and started back working out and exercising a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “I’ve been getting ready in case this did happen. I didn’t want to sit around and not be prepared for it.”
