Dusty Tuckness said he can’t wait to get on the dirt and bullfight again and in February, he had his first taste of being back in a rodeo arena since fracturing his left leg at the 2021 NFR.
Tuckness received the Lane Frost Award inside Dickies Arena on Feb. 4. He thought he was going to Fort Worth to present an award to Brad Barnes, the President and General Manager of the FWSSR. Instead, it was Tuckness receiving the award.
“I felt like a guy who walked into something he wasn’t supposed to,” Tuckness said. “It didn’t really register until I heard them say the GOAT and then protecting lives and then when I looked up, I saw a picture of me on the big screen.”
The Lane Frost Award is given annually to to a person who significantly contributions to promoting and enhancing the image of rodeo and the rural way of life.
“I didn’t know Lane personally, but through his parents, I’ve gotten to understand who he was inside and outside the arena and the characteristics he bestowed upon himself,” Tuckness said. “And those qualities, I try to embody every day, just being a good Godly man and being able to inspire and take time for the younger generation.”
