Dylan Hancock Talks First National Finals Rodeo, His Good Horse Earl and Being Surrounded by Winners

No. 9 ranked tie-down roper in the World is Dylan Hancock.

Dylan Hancock came into the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as a rookie in 2023 and claimed the Resistol Rookie of the Year title. He followed that year up with something even better, his first National Finals Rodeo qualification.

“It’s pretty awesome, for sure. I like to think there’s not any pressure now. I mean, I think the hard part is done, just kind of let loose and have fun,” Hancock said.

When he looks back on the journey to get here, his support system was a huge part of his success. Not only does this include his family but there are some outside companions as well.

As far as NFR horsepower, Hancock’s main mount is a 14-year-old gelding named Earl.

“He’s rock solid. He does the same thing every time and he’s been awesome,” he said.

To add to the people Hancock is surrounded by, World Champion Riley Webb is among those that Hancock can learn from. He says Webb knows how to win and being around that is awesome.

Hancock heads into his first ever NFR as the No. 9 ranked tie-down roper in the World.
