Eight-time PRCA World Champion Stetson Wright has made the tough decision to end his 2024 ProRodeo season as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
“Many of you have been wondering where I have been and what I’ve been doing. My 2024 season is officially over and there’s only one reason, I’m just not physically ready yet,” he said. “When I first had this injury, I said I’d be back when I was 100 percent and I’m going to stay true to myself, because at the end of the day, you can’t lie to yourself.”
After successful surgery following the 2023 NFR, Wright initially planned to come back for the Summer Run beginning in Reno, however, that date continued to be pushed back until it was too late to return with any shot of making it to Las Vegas.
Wright has won the last five PRCA All-Around Gold Buckles and has made the NFR in both bull riding and saddle bronc riding each of the last four years.
“Nobody wants to sit out a full season,” he said. “Especially when this was all you wanted to do growing up.”
