Brody Cress has been making his way up the PRCA World Standings chart all season long and now that he is inside the Top 10, he is pushing for more. His August was already off to a strong start but the seven-time National Finals Rodeo saddle bronc rider plans on a strong finish as well. After three wins come his way this last week, Cress is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
It was a clean sweep for Cress at the Horse Heaven Roundup Rodeo after two match ups with the standout bucking horses of the Calgary Stampede’s. His Long Round horse was Freedom Express, a younger horse that Cress made look like a veteran when the duo put an 89 on top of the leaderboard. For the Short Round, Erotic Tango got the call and Cress was 87 points to win the Short Round by just half a point. In the Average, Cress was the champion by a huge margin of five and a half points.
Rolling into the Kitsap Stampede, Cress matched up with Big Stone Rodeo’s Lioness. This was another horse with only a few outs according to Stock Stats and Cress set them both up for success. An 87-point ride would win it all and the $6,000 pay day would be the highest individual check of the week.
Adding to the impressive week, Cress swung over to Idaho where he drew Flying 5 Rodeo’s Johnny Be Good at the Gem State Stampede. It would be an 86-point ride that landed him in the Winner’s Circle yet again by one and a half points.
The No. 8 ranked saddle bronc rider in the world had an $18,000 week in the Northwest bringing his total earnings for the month of August alone to over $70,000. Cress is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
