After kicking off his 2024 season with a bang at the Brad Gjermundson Extreme Broncs in October and wrapping up his 2023 season with a third-place finish in the World Standings in December, Brody Cress has a lead foot down as we round out the month of January.
A 91-point ride aboard Cervi Championship Pro Rodeo’s R Watson’s Ed Bishop not only cinched Cress the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo win, it also tied the arena record that Cress set himself four years ago. It also makes him your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
Cress’s trip to Denver consisted of two Go-Round checks as well. An 86.5-point ride on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Capone in Round 2 was good enough for to Go-Round win. It was followed up by an 84-point ride in the Semifinals on The Cervi Brother’s Texas Toast to be third and advance Cress to the Finals. There, his matchup with Ed Bishop would top the leaderboard by three points.
This is Cress’ second National Western Stock Show and Rodeo Championship, the first coming in 2020 also to the tune of 91 points. This win added more than $10,000 to his earnings and he now sits No. 1 in the World. With an early season lead in the standings and momentum swinging his way as he heads into the Texas Swing, Cress is right where he wants to be.
