Jake Finlay’s trip to the Pendleton Round-Up might be a career-high for the Australian native. He has now hit a career high in regular season earnings and to top it off, he was the only roughstock cowboy to surpass the 90-point mark when he went 91 on Short Go Saturday to be your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
Finlay added to the list of 85.5’s in Round 1 after a matchup with Cowboy Fool of Summit Pro Rodeo. That was his first payday of the week as he split first with Zeke Thurston and Statler Wright.
When the draw for Saturday’s Final Round was out, Finlay’s name was next to the one and only The Black Tie of Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics. The bay horse has established a track record that Finlay added to when he was the third consecutive saddle bronc rider to win the Pendleton Round-Up on him.
It was a score of 91 points that Finlay and The Black Tie put together and it was celebrated on the grass with the best bronc riders cheering for the two. Finlay was your Pendleton Round-Up Champion by two points.
This was a win that Finlay dedicated to an inspiration of his, Witch Holman.
Finlay is now ranked the No. 22 saddle bronc rider in the World with $82,223 to his name as we head into the final two weeks of the season. The Pendleton Round-Up Champion is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
