This weekend, Shane Hanchey roped his way to get the American Title and left Globe Life Field $100,000 richer, making the 2013 World Champion Tie-Down Roper the Exmark Timed Event Athlete of the Week.
Hanchey proved himself once again why he is one of the most consistent competitors in the sport. It was neck and neck between Hanchy and the 2024 World Champion, Riley Webb, entering the four-man championship round at the American after splitting the Semi-Finals earlier on Saturday. But Saturday night, Hanchy delivered a fast 6.73-second run aboard the 2023 AQHA Horse of the Year, Stylish Bugsby, to grab the American Rodeo Title.
Coming off strong performances at both RodeoHouston and Rodeo Austin, Hanchey said the American Rodeo win gave him a major confidence boost heading into the summer run.
“I’m excited about the momentum and hoping we can keep it going,” Hanchey stated.
Sitting at No. 16 in the PRCA World Standings, the Louisiana cowboy is just outside the top 15 and is looking to secure his 16th trip to the National Finals Rodeo by the end of the season.
