The Texas Swing gets underway with Bracket 1, Round 1 action from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth Friday

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off with Bracket 1, Round 1 Friday night at 8:30 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.

The will bring you reigning Fort Worth Champions along with reigning World Champions. Over the next seven brackets, the competition will narrow down to two Semifinals and a Wild Card before we crown champions on Feb. 3.

BAREBACK RIDING

Rocker Steiner picked up the win last year and he is gunning for another one as he is set to compete in the event’s first bracket. His matchup Friday is a horse of Korkow Rodeo that Cooper Filipek rode for 83.5 points in Gillette over New Years.

STEER WRESTLING

Jesse Brown returns to Fort Worth after having his best career finish at in 2023. He officially kicks off his 2024 regular season in Fort Worth after winning the Texas Champions Challenge earlier in the week. Although he stayed between 4 and 5 seconds here last year, he will need to be faster Friday and Saturday to advance.

TEAM ROPING

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin are the pair to watch in team roping, but they have struck out since the Prairie Circuit Finals. In 2023, the duo advanced to the Semifinals in Fort Worth only to be stopped short of the Championship Round.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Reinging World Champion Zeke Thurston will go toe-to-toe with Molly Brown. The horse has had one out this 2024 season and it was in the bareback riding, however, in 2023, it was Chase Brooks who rode her in Fort Worth for 80.5 points.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Marcos Costa went all the way to the Finals last year tying his fastest time in Round 2 of his bracket with 8.7 seconds. Standing in his way this year is reigning Fort Worth Champion Westyn Hughes, who dominated this rodeo in 2023 when he earned the win with a 7.4-second run.

BREAKAWAY ROPING

Ashley Goforth found herself the Reserve Champion in Fort Worthin 2023 by just one tenth of a second. Joining her in Bracket 1 is 2022 World Champion Martha Angelone, who will be gunning for redemption.

BULL RIDING

After one year away, Clayton Sellars is back in Fort Worth. Rafter G’s Bumpstock is his match up tonight and the bull is 1-for-1 in the 2024 season, however, Jace Trosclair rode him for 87 points in 2023. Also keep an eye on young guns Jestyn Woodward and Mason Moody in this bracket.
