Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Semi-Finalist: Steer Wrestler Jacob Edler

Jacob Edler won the second round in Bracket 6 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, as well as the overall, meaning he is moving on to the semi-finals, and he credits a lot of his success to the horse he’s riding — Matt Reeve’s renowned quarter horse Rattle, the 2019 AQHA Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year,

“She is the most athletic horse I’ve ever been on in my life,” Edler says, “scores great, does her job every time, and it just makes my job that much easier.”

On his successful start in 2020, which will help him reach his ultimate goal of qualifying for the Wrangler NFR, Edler says, “It’s great. It’s great I got a little bit of a head start. But I gotta remember it’s early in the season. I gotta keep grinding, keep my head down, and see it all the way through.”

Luckily, he has the support of his fellow steer wrestlers to help get him there. “That’s what’s so awesome about bull dogging,” Edler says. “There’s so much camaraderie — everybody’s rooting for everybody. It’s the best thing in the world. I love it.”
