Fred Whitfield Talks Coaching a Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo Team and the Impact of Winning

Coach Fred Whitfield returns this May for Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo.

The Sledge Hammers are one of six teams that make up Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo and they are led by the legendary Fred Whitfield. His assistant coach is his good friend Curtis Pederson.

With 20 National Finals Rodeo qualifications, eight Gold Buckles and an induction into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, Whitfield is the perfect candidate for coaching in one of rodeo’s newest endeavors.

“Once you’ve been a winner and [are] accustomed to winning it rolls over into anything you do... Winner’s want to win so when we got this team together and last year’s, we got quite a few winners on our team,” Whitfield said.

With the likes of Tanner Aus, Ashley Castleberry, Damian Brennan and Shad Mayfield making up part of their team, Coach Whitfield is looking forward to another shot to win.

They are gunning for the win come May 16 at AT&T Stadium when the first-ever drag race style rodeo commences for the second Kid Rock N Rodeo.
