Getting to know Jacob Talley: From football to steer wrestling

Most pro rodeo contestants have been doing it a long time, some even started in diapers. Then, there are others that show up without near the experience, which is the case with bulldogger Jacob Talley.

The cowboy from Keatchie, Louisiana qualified for his third Wrangler NFR in 2020 but it wasn’t with some adversity along the way. His football career kept him from getting to rodeo at a young age because his high-level coaches didn’t want him getting injured. When he was able to commit to rodeo full-time, he tore his pec muscle in 2019 at Red Bluff, California.

In 2020, he came roaring back from injury, finishing the regular season in the Top 2.

But as he explains, rodeo almost never got its hands on him, because football was his first love and his priority growing up.
