Gio Piloto Makes Fastest Tie-Down Roping Run in Resistol Rookie Roundup History

The Brazilian was blazing fast Friday night

Gio Piloto was almost three seconds clear of the rest of the field Friday night in Cowtown Coliseum as he stopped the clock at 7.2 seconds, the fastest time in the three years of the Resistol Rookie Roundp.

Piloto, a native of Brazil, rode a horse trained by his countryman - 2016 PRCA Tie-Down Roping World Champion Marcos Costa.

“That horse is very special to me,” he said. “I don’t have much, everything I have, he gave it to me.”

Piloto, who had earned $2,700 so far on the season, added to that in a big way with $1,300 from his round win.

Piloto will compete in the clean slate Shootout with a chance to move on to the winner-take-all four man Finals. It begins at 8:30 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
