Hailey Kinsel and her reknowned palomino mare, Sister, were the picture of consistency in the first two Go-Rounds of the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup before they took flight on Championship Saturday.
“That horse and rodeo have done more for my life than anything I could ask for and I just can’t thank her enough. I’m surprised every time and I’m also not surprised everytime she lays down a run like that. So anything she gives me is just icing on the cake, I’m just happy she’s mine,” Kinsel said.
Kinsel came into the Semifinals where they claimed the No. 1 spot by one tenth of a second before their second run of the day. In the Final Four, a 13.52 would be the second fastest time of the whole rodeo and it was fast enough for the duo to win their first Governor’s Cup to end the regular season on a high note.
“I don’t know why we get this favor but I’m thankful for it and just going to make the most of it,” Kinsel said about returning to Las Vegas.
Kinsel will be vying for her fifth Gold Buckle this December and she will enter the Thomas and Mack on Round 1 as the No. 1 barrel racer in the WPRA.
