Hall of Fame Bareback Rider Kaycee Feild Talks His Return & Punching a Ticket to Globe Life Field

Six-time World Champion Bareback Rider Kaycee Feild makes a return to the rodeo arena.

After winning his sixth Gold Buckle in 2022, bareback rider Kaycee Feild announced his retirment from rodeo. With $3.5 million in career earnings, 13 trips to the National Finals Rodeo and three American Rodeo titles, he thought he had brought the curtain down on a legendary career. But on Jan. 10-11, Feild nodded his head once again.

“I drew exceptionally good, not the winning horse in the Short Round but, for where I’m at physically and where I feel like my riding is, those horses were perfect for me. And, you know, saying where my riding is, I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get ready for the caliber of horses that are going to be at Globe Life,” Feild said.

After making the decision to return, Feild was able to remember why he fell in love with the process of getting prepared. The fire was only fueled when he sat next to Stetson Wright and Luke Branquinho in Las Vegas watching the TV Pen and Eliminator Pen at the National Finals Rodeo.

“It was just a fun week talking about it and then to make the commitment and enter it, and, you know, a week before, holy crap this has come to fruition, this is real, there’s no going back now. Those feelings were pretty dang fun and it made it really enjoyable,” he said.

Feild has his sights on the $1 million at the American Rodeo in April and that is the only place we can plan on seeing the Hall of Famer ride again as of right now.
