Haven Meged’s Calgary Stampede Success Falls into Place on Championship Sunday

Tie-down roper Haven Meged claims his first Calgary Stampede title.

Haven Meged is your No. 3 tie-down roper in the World after a Calgary Stampede win came his way.

Meged’s performance in Pool B made him the No. 2 cowboy to advance and on Championship Sunday, he would be the only tie-down roper to make a sub 7-second run twice. A 6.9 in the Semifinals moved him to the Final Four where he was 6.7 seconds to win it all.

“Honestly, I thought I messed up. My horse stumbled and I just thought I was going to be too long and I looked up at the clock and it worked out,” Meged said.

Meged’s horse is the same horse he rode at the National Finals Rodeo in 2023 but he is coming back off a suspensory injury, one that has taken a long time to heal, but the sorrel is what Meged calls a true blessing.

A little bit of luck and a whole lot of talent has landed Meged his first ever Calgary Stampede title.
