Head Coach J.W. Hart of the Kansas City Outlaws is Looking Forward to PBR Team Series

JW Hart is the head coach PBR’s Kansas City Outlaws, one of the eight teams that will makes up PBR’s new team series that will kick off in July. The draft will take place right after the PBR World Finals in May in Fort Worth, Texas.

“It’s no secret that every guy and every team, coach and general manager is searching the world over for the next best guy, the first best guy. I’m with the Kansas City Outlaws and we have the No. 4 pick so we’re looking to see who may go before, who we may trade for,” Hart said.

This next week, Hart is headed to Pueblo, Colorado where the PBR is hosting a combine for the coaches and general managers to get a look at the talent that they could have the chance draft come May. The cowboys will not only get on bulls but there will be other physical and mental tests similar to an NFL combine taking place.

“They’re putting a lot of research, a lot of time and putting really the science behind it too,” Hart said about the upcoming combine.

Hart, in part with his agreement with Kansas City, is building a full-scale training facility in Oklahoma. It allows the opportunity to bring the bull riders in as a team or individually to train and meet to be able to compete on a major league sports level.

“We can bring the guys in as a team or have a conference room to watch videos and have the mechanisms, training facilities where guys can come in there and get on whether it be bucking bulls or some kind of barrel or bucking machines, we’re going to have video ready. It’s going to be a major league sport facility and environment,” said Hart.

These teams will be made of PBR World Finals qualifiers, National Finals Rodeo qualifiers and more. Hart and the other coaches will be working with the cowboys with their mental game, workout regimens, diet plans and more to make the bull riders better in those aspects. As Hart said, these cowboys already know their job and how to ride bulls.

The Kansas City Outlaws host the second event of the Team Series in August but with the draft coming up in May, Hart says that although there is a special camaraderie among the coaches things are already getting competitive. The PBR Team Series kicks off in July at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
