It was a season on the bubble for Cyle Denison, but thanks to a strong finish at the Governor’s Cup, he is heading to his first-career NFR in the No. 12 spot after earning $108,812 on the year.
Here is a look back at Denison’s season and how he qualified for NFR No. 1.
St. Paul Rodeo, $3,303
Over Cowboy Christmas, Denison stopped the clock at 5.1 seconds to be third in Round 1 at the St. Paul Rodeo. This would be the pairs only payday in St. Paul, but it was a start to what would be a big summer run.
Cache County Fair and Rodeo, $4,597
The first win of Denison’s August came in Utah to the tune of 4.2 seconds. This run would take over the leaderboard and bump a four-way tie to the No. 2 spot by three-tenths of a second and add to Denison’s stellar season with a payday of over $4,500.
Puyallup Rodeo, $11,475
A 4.7-second run got Denison’s trip to Puyallup started before an 11.1 on two advanced him and Tanner Braden to the Semifinals where they were 4.3 seconds. He caught a leg in the Finals to be 9.7 but it was still good enough for a second and Braden’s third-highest payday.
Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup, $22,500
The final weekend of the regular season cinched Denison’s first NFR while also being his highest payday of the season. A pair of 3.9 seconds advanced Braden and Denison to the Semifinals and that alone was enough to put them well into the Top 15 in the World.
