Kirbe Schnoor caught up with William Wall after his Champion Charolais Steer title win at the Houston Junior Steer Show about what he likes about showing, making the Grand Champion Drive, and how much it means to him to have the chance to show in Houston this year after last year’s shutdown.
“Just the opportunity to show is perfect for us,” Wall says. “Not getting to come to Houston and Austin last year was pretty heartbreaking for me. So just to get the opportunity to come and show, and have a chance to be in an environment like this, there’s nothing comparable.”
Following his interview, William and his Charolais went on to win it all — Grand Champion Junior Market Steer — proving that hard work pays off.
The 16-year-old from Idalou, Texas, told HLSR that he never stopped pushing himself and kept working with his steer throughout the disappointing year of event postponements and cancellations.
“Even when shows get canceled, I just kept grinding,” William said. “You can’t stop or let anything get you down.”
William hopes to attend Texas Tech University and pursue a career in the agricultural industry.
