International Finals Youth Rodeo has been Canceled for 2020

The International Finals Youth Rodeo was established in 1993 to present top high school athletes with a professional rodeo in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and attracts rodeo athletes from around the world. Featuring 250 contestants in each of its 10 events, IFYR is the world’s richest youth rodeo and even has its very own IFYR Hall of Fame.

During the recent Shawnee Civic & Cultural Development Authority Board of Trustees meeting that the 2020 International Finals Youth Rodeo held anually in Shawnee, Oklahoma, would be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In an official statement, the rodeo said:


“At this time, the IFYR Board of Directors and staff are working to compile information, create policies and answer questions. This unprecedented pandemic has impacted almost every facet of life. We will have more specific answers as soon as possible, however, in on-going discussions, it became evident the national response to COVID-19, the benchmarks set by state and local officials and the challenges businesses, who often sponsor the IFYR, are currently facing made it apparent the 2020 IFYR event had to be cancelled.
